boggart description: Criptir
The strange build of the Criptir makes it recognizable, with its layered shell. Its natural environment is water, being able to build up to swimming speed by spinning within it. Also, this spinning can cause a small whirlpool-like vortex, seen on the top of the lake or deep water of a river. This whirlpool effect can look like a current changing direction. It has been said that Criptirs surface from the water at night and play diving games from overhanging trees.
Brownies: Criptirs require deep water, very often quite still or murky. This is because they can get caught up in currents and trapped in shallow water, due to their outer fan-shaped cartilage.
